Short History
Donald grew up in Boston, son of a Irish journalist Shane Roley and Elizabeth Appleton, daughter of the Appleton family known publisher D. Appleton & Company. Donald grew up surrounded by worlds and book and had a talent for languages. He was published at an early age, mostly thanks to his grandparents, focusing primarily on fiction. He attended Boston University and got a Bachelors in English with a minors in occult studies and archaeology. His papers on the influence of the occult on popular and historical literature earned him a research position at Miskatonic University as he pursued a Masters in archaeology.
He has several hobbies, including hunting which he picked up from his grandfather, and fencing, which he took up undergraduate years at Boston. He has also done some horse back riding in his youth. While attending Miskatonic University, he met a girl named Wendy Havers, another student at Miskatonic Univerity.
